Hey guys

I got a few Questions.

1. If you had the chance to buy a ATI 4870 (512) or nVidia GTX260 216, which would you get (both the same price, just based purely on performance)?

2. When are the new ATI and nVidia cards coming out, so i can wait, and see what theyll do, cause there is no point buying a card now, and in a month, a new card comes out. Plus prices will be cheaper.

Thing is, Im in South Africa, so prices here are heavily affected by the Rand/Dollar exchange (Used to be 7:1, now its 10:1)

so prices have fluctuated.

So I can get the GTX260 216 or a 4870 for the same price (both Gigabyte), and the 4870 1 gig for $40 more...

So what should i get?


And when do you guys think new cards will be released?
 
I think the Hd4870 1 gig and the 260-216 are pretty even now performance wise.I think you should buy what is cheapest unless of course you want to either Sli/crossfire in the near future

Probably the 260-216 is the best deal right now.If you get a EVGA you can trade up in 90 days to a better card which would allow you another option.I think the 285 and 295 are due out sometime in January.
 
Id go with the 260 only because i am familar with nvidia graphics cards and their performance.

Im not sure when the 10 serioes nvidia cards will come out but they will probably use Directx 11 as will ATI or Directx 11.1 just to be different XD
 
I have never owned an ATI card so I can't say much about them. Many people use the 4000 series cards and swear by them. I almost went ATI for the first time but was nervous about the heat issues and the driver issues.

I do however absolutely love my eVGA GXT 260 Core 216:D Temps are great and it will smash anything I can throw at it:cool: I would recommend this card to anybody;) The PhysX built into the new Nvidia cards is the cherry on top:)
