i need 4 new things. i need a new mobo, new graphics card, new proc, and more memory. i got a budget of about $400.

i like the gigabyte k8nsc-939 mobo. looks nice and is cheap.

also the amd 3200+ proc.

are these a good or bad decision and what could i get as far as memory and a graphics card is concerned.

im in college so im jus wondering if its a good idea to save a couple bucks and buy the school edition of xp from the school. can i remove all the extra crap that the academic version comes with?

You'll hardly notice the difference between the 3000+ that you have now and a 3200+, so i would say dont upgrade your cpu yet. I'd get a 6800GT for video, and maybe another 1GB of ram.

And the Academic version doesnt have any extra crap loaded onto it, its the exact same thing as the Orginal Windows Xp, just labled as acedemic version.

-Agreed, only difference I would say is to look into the new 6800GS's, espescially the XFX. If you invest in a good cooling system, you could hinestly turn your computer into an amazing overclocking rig.

its going to be used for games and internet surfing. but they're old games, nothing any computer even half as good as the one in my signature couldn't run. in my opinion it'll only need like a 6200 graphics card. i want an amd chip just because i'm an amd fan and i can get a slightly better chip to put in my pc and then give my mom my 3000+ chip and pay her the difference.
