Just as the title states. I'm looking for a laptop and was wondering what I should be looking for. I have two desktops, desks, monitors, etc., etc. and was trying to condence into 1. So I'm looking for a laptop that both my daughter and wife can use to do basic tasks like internet surf, word, excel, and print oh and it must be wireless. My daughter might want to play WOW, but if not she can use my desktop for that. I've seen alot of used and near new stuff on craigslist. I'm not opposed to new or refurbished. I'd like to keep it under $500.00, but if this is unrealistic I'd go as much as $800.00 US. I'm located in So. Cal. any info. you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help...:D:good:

Its back to school season, so check out your major technology retail outlets. Most of them will have back to school sales with basic laptops starting at around $300-$400. Just got a friend of mine a Toshiba laptop for $440 at Office Depot: 300 GB HDD, 3GB RAM, 2GHz Dual Core Processor....

All I can say is, don't try to get a small one. The smaller they are, the worse and hotter they are. (Kinda obvious, but you have to think like that)

Cool thanks for the help I'm trying to research to make a good decision. I was also looking at the acer pceee for under $300 but don't no much about it.

With everyone in the family using it, you probably want to get a lot of memory on the computer. Another option would be to invest in an external hard drive (or maybe one for each family member), to save all archived data on, so it doesn't slow the computer down too much.
