What to upgrade next

Hello! I currently am planning on upgrading my PC, probably to get a new CPU, and I don't know exactly which one to get, and whether to get a new motherboard as well. Something I will be upgrading for sure, is my case. I was thinking about getting a Rosewill BLACKHAWK case, but i'm flexible if you have any other case suggestions. My friend will probably be able to give me a GTX 660, so then I will be getting a new power supply because I don't think my current power supply has a connector for that. I really don't know which one to get, so advice on that would be appreciated.

I will be using this PC for playing games like Minecraft, Garry's Mod, and Star Citizen. I also record game play videos every once in a while, which is my reason for wanting to upgrade my CPU to be able to record with better quality. Thanks for looking!

Current PC's specs:
CPU: Intel i3 3220
Motherboard: ASUS P8B75-MLX PLUS
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 7750
PSU: SilverStone 500W Power Supply
Case: SilverStone ML03
RAM: Crucial 4GB, I also have 4GB of some off-brand ram, so 8GB total
HDD: HGST 500GB and WD Black 1TB
 
I'd say a new motherboard, something compatible with either a LGA 1150 or LGA 1151 socket, depends on how much you want to spend on the CPU. For CPU I'd recommend a i5-4690K for a 1150 budget, a i7-4790K for a solid 1150 CPU. Or you could go with Skylake and "future-proof" it, as I'm sure the 1150 socket is not going to be used again as far as I know and get something like a i5-6600K for a slight budget or a i7-6700K for about as new as it gets.

The motherboard is really up to you, I'd just recommend something ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA or maybe AS Rock. Just make sure the socket is compatible with the CPU you want.

Only other recommendation, and it's really more of a requirement for any upgrading to that system, get a new case. Something bigger, for sure.

But it sounds like you've got a good idea what you're doing, so I'd say you'll figure this out just fine.

I will be getting an SSD sometime, and as for cheap lga 1155 cpus, I might buy a used one soon, but I am going to wait for my friend to give me his GTX 660 and see how much that improves the performance.

Yeah, its definitely a tough decision, there both not the latest and greatest but the 1150 has better CPUs, but at the moment I am going to wait for my friend to give me his gtx 660 and them see if I want to get a new CPU or motherboard and cpu. Thanks for your help!
