what type and how to cleaning a screen

Super newb question here.

I have a new LCD monitor, the screen though, when you touch is, it leaves like a smear in the pixels. What kind of screen is this? I mean I know it's LCD, but let's say, Apple has glass covered LCD's, so you could use a glass cleaner. What is mine? just plain old LCD?

just sharing what ever its worth. i use a eye glass cleaner and cloth from the eye doctor. your right though. keep your fingers off it. i do not use a t-shirt, kleenix. its a special cloth for the camera, glasses and use it on the monitor. i have two or 3 of them.

Plain common lcd silk screen and yes you can use any screen cleaner on them.
