Why are you looking for a UPS for your gaming Rig? UPS is usually only for things like servers where a power cut would cause damaging data loss. Do you mean a power supply unit?

No I do mean UPS. I get loads of power cuts this time of year because of the poor weather, each one only usually lasts between 10 seconds and 10 minutes and by the time i turn the computer on and get a bit further in my game, another one happens and im back where i started. Its annoying.

The bigger the better I always say.
I'd size it at least 10% bigger than your power supply.
If you had a KillAwatt meter you could check your actual power draw and look at the run time for that load for the UPS and figure out how much run time you need for the price.

omg, i bought a UPS and i plugged it (not connected to anything) and started to charge it, went upstairs and to hours later the lights went out. I went to look at it and it was still smoking, im starting to think its better not to have one. The other problem is the shops out here only seem to have makes ive never heard of before.

Ahh ok. I don't know much about this but would a redundant PSU work the same?

No redundant PSU only helps for PSU failure, not Current failure.
UPS provides power long enough to finish what the computer is doing and properly shutdown.
really it seems for the OP a generator would do more than a UPS.

UniversalI just got a replacement UPS and it the same make and model. I'm sitting next to it and im scare these words you are reading might be my last
