what usb dongle to use on a old desk top ??

What is the model of router you have? I would just get an wireless N adapter and be done. So the one you linked to should be good, though its an off brand.

Not all wifi uses 2.4Ghz but that's the most common. Newer routers support 2.4 & 5Ghz.

The wifi dongle you linked to should work fine for you as long as there are aren't issues like the computer being located too far from the router or there are too many walls and other obstructions that prevent a good signal between the computer and router.

Should work fine, has good reviews. Make sure you encrypt your WIFI connection. You have to go into the router to do it. If the router supports WPA2 use that. Use a key of at least 15 digits, alpha numeric and symbol. Like: Password410953%

sorry i did not see this sooner.
i have the Make & Model: RCAWIRELESS TG862G
wifi device.

the computer is about 20 feet from that box and only have 1 wall in between them.
i have a tablet that i get good connection right at the desktop .

so if that will work ill buy today.

also whats a good bluetooth dongle for this older desktop as i want to connect my tablet to it by bluetooth . also needs to be cheap price.. about $20 would be good.

The one you linked to should work fine.

If you google your modem's model number you can see it has 802.11n for wireless. I don't see any indication of dual band but the default band for most wifi networks (b,g,n) is 2.4 GHz. Some N devices are dual band and utilize 2.4 and 5 GHz (802.11a networks also use 5 GHz).

ok thanks.
but are computer wifi 2.4 or 5 or both ?

i looked on my laptop to see but could not find what wifi i have..
and my galaxy tab 2 10.1 wifi gets on no problem.

just wandering as this is new to me..

also what about a bluetooth dongle for that old desktop as i want to connect to my tablet from that also.

will any bluetooth usb dongle be fine ?
