you should really try Sabayon linux, if we're talking media thats the distro, or use UBUNTU STUDIO
You can get a good looking Linux in any distro. Ubuntu has Compiz by default, which is what Omnicia was describing. It's not as advanced as Beryl, which is what Sabayon comes with by default.
It's so easy to install Beryl and Compiz that you might as well pick any distro and install Beryl on it. But if I had to recommend a distro for this, I would recommend LinuxMint. It's based on Ubuntu, comes with Beryl installed, and has a great menu system.
Ubuntu with Compiz Fusion. Pure secks.
he said MEDIA, you need to wake up.
probably we wants media mp3/wma/videos at default.
ubuntu does not have that at default..SABAYON does
yeah, sorry about that mate, been having personal problems lately and my rage is still on
Dreamlinux looks great and feels great at first...... but it SUCKS!!!!!
It has some serious problems such as bad shortcut recognition. Sometimes if you delete a shortcut you delete serious system files. I am not extremely Linux savy, and I'm sure if you're very good, Dreamlinux good be the Distro for you. If you've used OSX, you know that when you drag and drop an icon from the dock, it poofs into thin air, and is sometimes hard to find. Dreamlinux is like that for everything. For a lack of better words, it SUCKS!
Honestly, if you've never used Linux, use Ubuntu(the normal one). For a long time Windows user, it's pretty hard to use, but it makes you learn its tricks. On the other hand, it's one of the easiest Linux Distro's to use, so you'll be able to handle it. I love Ubuntu, but after i reinstalled and upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit, the 8800 gts drivers won't install. I've reinstalled many times in both 32 bit and 64 bit nothing works anymore. Good luck to you. If you put some time into Ubuntu, you will love it.
I am fairly new to Linux as well and I don't find it too difficult or DreamLinux for that matter. I've not had any problems using it. Its by far my favorite especially with xfce by default.
one of the reasons you don't find dream difficult is because you have everything installed by default.
unlike distro's like suse and others they don't have anything related to media (mp3,wma),java,C+ compiler ,etc..etc..so its a pain going to the package manager and installing them 1 by 1..lol
last time i remember installing PSI Instant messenger on BLAGLINUX was 17MB..and in windows i think this is only 5mb..
wtf ?
Suse Linux is cool. 10.3 is supposed to come out in a few monthes. Kubuntu is awesome too.
