Hey all im NEW. I just got a hell of a deal on a dell and want to upgrade my video card ? Price-range $100-$200? what do u think? Thanx!

Spec: Pentium® D Processor 820 with Dual Core Technology (2.80GHz, 800FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
256MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X600 SE HyperMemory
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

i would get the x850xt because it has 16 pixel pipelines...
but then the 7600GT would be very comparable (bold means what it is stronger at):

Radeon x850xt:

Core Clock: 520MHz
Pixel Pipelines: 16
Memory Clock: 1080MHz
Memory Size: 256MB
Memory Interface: 256-bit

GeForce 7600GT:

Core Clock:580MHz
Pixel Pipelines:12
Memory Clock:1500MHz
Memory Size:256MB
Memory Interface:128-bit

as you can see they are pretty comparable...
it depends what is more important? ( iam guessing he wants to game)
clock speeds or pixel pipelines???

i'd say pixel pipelines. the 850xt also has a 256bit memory interface, and you can usually tweak a card a little in the frequency department afterwards. i'd say go 850xt.

thanx guys... I was also looking at the ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X1900 and the
ATI Radeon X1600 Pro
what do you guys think. Also the dell i got at dell was :

Dell Dimension E510 Series Pentium® D Processor 820 with Dual Core Technology (2.80GHz, 800FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
19 inch E196FP Analog Flat Panel
256MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X600 SE HyperMemory
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr At-Home Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
for Sub-Total $748.15
If u wanna know how just ask!

very nice... the ati all-in-wonder isn't as good unless you have Windows Media Center Edition... or media stuff... the other ones have more pwerfull graphics

NO, stay away from the x1600 pro for $240, if you're talking US dollars that is. You could likely find at least 5-6 cards better than a x1600 pro for that price. Your best bets are either the Geforce 7600gt or Radeon x850xt. I may be wrong, but I believe the x850xt is a tad bit faster than the 7600gt, but the 7600gt has sm 3.0 on it whereas the x850xt does not...the 7600gt is actually newer tech all-around as well.

Either way, a good choice imo.

well, the only problem you have now is that Dell's have not-so-good powersupplies. The one in that Dell is probably not even over 300 watt and probably has pretty bad amperage, which is an issue if you want a good graphics card.

well i wanna spend less then $350 in all what would u get.... like in a video card and power supply? and is that even possable?

yes, get a 7900gt, or a 7600gt... and get like a 500watt or somewhere in that neighborhood antec power supply. but more importantly get gaming, and soon! :)

I totally agree with you, a 7900GT would be nice, but a 7600GT or 7800GT would suffice (7800GT is better than the 7600GT, but worse than the 7900GT). Just don't get a 6800GS (for your budget) :) By the way, I don't want to get into a discussion about that.

Well isnt 500watt a whole lot more then i need? and video card wise i want something that well let me play games at high res like fear and COD bf2 games like that .

A 7600GT might do that, but a 7800GT or 7900GT would be a lot better for the job. Don't look only for watts, look for amperage as well. for instance, mine is 400W with 29 amps on two 12volt rails.

yea, get in the neighborhood of 500watts i meant, it depends on the prices and the brands the you find. mostly antec is the best, then thermaltake and aspire are good choices too.
