What Was 1g Internet?

I know that 2g is like dial-up at 56kbps, 3g is broadband at about 7MB and 4g is optic fibre with speeds of 100MB and there must be a 5g as I've seen speed tests on youtube of about 1000MB which are in Netherlands. That must be like a high definition internet. Was there ever a 1g though? If so what was 1g internet and what was it like?

Don't have a clue. I have fiber optic also. Tv and high speed and pay about $250.00 a month. They have faster for me. for home its good enough.

Are you referring to the theoretical max speeds, or the real world speeds? Here in the U.S. (and I believe it's similar in the U.K.), these are the common mobile data speeds:

1G (PDC) ~14Kbps
2G (TDMA) ~43Kbps
2G (cdmaOne) ~76Kbps
2.5G (GPRS) ~171Kbps
2.5G (1xRTT) ~236Kbps
2.75G (EDGE) ~384Kbps

When you get into 3G and 4G the speeds and technologies are even more spread out. To keep it simple, there is GSM 3G and CDMA 3G. GSM 3G is typically around 1-3Mbps while CDMA 3G is usually around 500Kbps-1.5Mbps. Now there is HSPA+ (3.5 or 3.75G) which is capable of speeds in the low 20Mbps range, then you have 4G which is is nowhere near the 100Mbps mark, it's more like 5-15Mbps with peaks hitting 30-40Mbps.
