What was wrong with the previous thread?

Why was the previous thread (the one about piratebay) closed? It didn't break any rules. It can be used for legal and illegal purposes, but he never specified what he was doing until later on... So why did everyone point him to the rules?

I suspect it's because 99.999% of the time it is being used for illegal downloads.

I closed it because the content on the site is almost always illegal. The material that is legal to download for free (in his case ebooks) can be found else where on the internet.
