OK, I am using Windows 8 and my wife is using our older Windows 7 and we have a small problem.
On my windows 8, I have "Word Pad" and "Open Office.org Writer", and when I send an e-mail to her with an attachment, in either one of those programs and she tries to open it she gets, "Windows 7 Microsoft writer 2010 can not be opened" etc.
Being pensioners we have a tight budget.
Can anybody recommend a free word program that I can download that will be compatible with Windows 7 and 8?

OpenOffice works on both Windows 7 and Windows 8. If she is having trouble still, either right click on the file and say open with Open Office, or open the application first and go to File > Open.
