i have cpu core 2 quad q6600, and 4 GB ram,
do i HAVE to install 64 bit windows?
i did it once , but the problem is drivers, this 64 bit windows do not work with every hardware, or so many drivers have problems,
i wonder can i install 32 bit windows , and have the maximum strenth of my cpu and rams?
(someone told me 64 bit windows are specially made for AMD 64 , it dosn't make a difference for intel CPUs, is that right?)

The new processors, intel duel core / quad core, amd 64 etc are made to run 64 bit applications. They run 32 bit applications fine so you dont need a 64 bit operating system like Vista. However if you want 64 bit Vista you need a 64 bit processor like amd64, intel dual core range etc.

If you are running 4gig of ram I would recommend a 64 bit operating system to make sure you get the full benefit of all the ram, especially if you have a video card also as windows xp and windows vista 32bit only allow a maximum of 4gig of ram, so if you have a 512 graphics card then you will only use about 3 gig of your ram. But if you have a 64 bit operating system like windows vista home premuim, it allows upto 8gig of ram.

If you are having driver problems, I would go with windows xp and then once you want to make the step into the future or want to upgrade your ram then get a 64 bit operating system.

You wrote a similar response if one of my threads. I'll say it again: I don't think you add the system and video memory like that towards the max.

Also, the max amount of RAM for Vista Home Premium 64 is 16 Gig, not 8. The Ultimate version is up to 128GB in the 64 bit version.
