I have seen sli being thrown around but really i don't know what all that is just yet. Right now Im running an older xps 400 and it runs wow fine, and its an intel. I have been pleased with it so far.

What is your overall budget for the tower?

It would be better to know that to figure out what sort of machine you can afford.

well I was thinking around a grand. But honestly, this is my first build and not sure what kind of computer you can even build for a grand

well if you have $1000 to spend u can build a sick computer with a new video card. if all u do is play some wow and css then i think you can put a nice computer together for about 800. the biggest thing is knowing what you want to do. i dont know if your like me but i would take that 800 computer and toss somemore money at it so i can make sure it can do anything i might want it to in the next few years.

so here is what i need to know...

what you what to do..now and mayb later

what you have and what you want to use

also just to give me an idea on where to be, what would be the next step up?

From P55, i5-760, and GTX460? Probably HD6870, i7-870, still P55
After that you'll want i7-9**, X58 mobo, and a higher end GPU. Also for i7-9** you need triple channel RAM (3 DIMMS)

EDIT: Or if going AMD, 1055/1090T, 890FX mobo, dual-channel RAM, high-end GPU
though for your budget I'd stick with intel
