What would be better?

I have a ASUS P5LD2 mobo and I would like upgrade my memory. Right now I have 2-512MB 240-PIN DIMM 64Mx64 DDR2 PC2-5300 UNBUFFERED kit. Can I put in a 2 gig kit ( 2-1 gig ) modules or would I have to put the 1 gig kit in like I have now? Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't know how much of a difference you would actually see, but it is technically better to have 2x1GB.

I want to keep the ram I have now in there I just want to add to it. So should I get the same kit I have now or get the bigger one? Not sure if I have explained myself right sorry.

If you are running Win 2K or XP Home/Pro with SP1, the limit is still 2 gigs. With XP Pro & SP2, the limit is 3 gigs -IF- you’ve enabled the 3 gig boot switch, which can be problematic... Photoshopnews.com

I know this will be a big debate but with newer programs comming out there will be no such thing as too much ram. XP doesn't seem to use it now but VISTA will be able to use upto 4gb...supposedly.

I was in the same boat. I had two 512 and bought a 2g set. Now I'm just holding onto it until vista comes out.
