What would be more effecient?

I have 8gb of ddr3 667 and system is running a little sluggish on some new games and im thinking this is the issue. As im on a bit of a budget would a stick of 4gb 1866 (highest my mobo can handle) show a noticeable difference?

If you add that to it the new stick would run at 667 speeds anyway. 8gb is usually enough for gaming. What games are you playing and what video card do you have?

I was thinking to take the 8gb out and just use the 4gb. I just got NBA 2k15 my card is an AMD 6670HD.

Recommended specs for that game is a quad core cpu, 4gb of ram, and a 260x video card. So right now your video card is what is causing the lag. What processor do you have?

Do you currently have one stick or two? Your 6670 will be sluggish in modern titles as it's not a high end card.

I have 2 4gb sticks running at 667 frequency. Would a GTX 460 be a viable upgrade? Seems like I can get a used one for a good deal.

Its DDR3 1333, don't think they ever made DDR3 677. Well technically 1333 bus clock is 677 MHz and the memory clock is 166. Another story.

Need a better video card and maybe overclock your FX X6 alittle. You using a stock cooler or a aftermarket one?

I'm using a zalman aftermarket cooler I've got it up to 3.9ghz using overdrive w/o getting high temps.
