What would be the easiest way to test a whole bunch of sticks of RAM?

I've got 400 pieces of RAM that I need to test. I found these cool things: http://www.memorytesters.com/ramcheck/ramcheck_ddr2+1_tester.htm but they want $3k+ for those!

I've got an old PC case with a power supply. I can get an old video card and a cheap display easily. If I just go buy a mobo to test these with do I need a CPU as well or would I be able to at least see if the RAM boots up w/o it?

Any other tips on how to easily test these would be great too. Or a cheaper version of the link I gave. :) Thanks!

I would say, just take a working computer and stick them in (leaving one known working stick) all of the slots, and run a ram-testing program... it could take a long time...

anyway, why so much ram? Have you found a really big motherboard:eek: Some sort of liquidation sale?

Well, I don't imagine it would take THAT long... you don't want to do a full memtest do you? Just make sure that they work? All you'd have to do is get a setup with a mobo with 4 RAM slots and put 4 in at a time and just make sure it powers up without errors... like 30 seconds for 4 sticks.

Yeah, I need to test them so I can sell them. I don't have a full machine that I could use for this, though, so I'm gonna have to piece one together. I was thinking I'd just make sure the RAM would boot without errors and was seeking the minimul hardware necessary to do this. You're right, though, I should test it further.

I'll probably just end up buying some cheap machine to do it with....unless somebody can point me in the direction of a device similar to what I linked to for a better price.

Yeah I guess that's more of what I was originally thinking. So I don't need a CPU, right? Just a mobo, P.S., vid card and display..??

No you will need a CPU or it will just beep like its going mad. And if you go the motherboard way they all would have to be the same kind of ram

They're all Samsung 1GB DDR 400
well, those two items I posted will work, granted, that is only 2 sticks at a time on that motherboard... but not bad for $54

EDIT: 3 stick motherboard
all 4 stick motherboards were over $50

If you plan on getting more sticks, you could get this motherboard... it supports 2 sticks DDR2 533 as well as 2 sticks DDR 400 (you can not use the two types together though)
