Can anyone tell me what information i would need when searching for new ram? The last stick of ram i bought that fit was this.

184-PIN UNBUFF DIMM 128MX64 DDR PC3200 ECC

What do i look for to check it will definitely fit in my mobo? Is it ram labeled with DIMM?

Thanks!

Would need to know what motherboard you have if its custom built or if its name brand, what model number it is.

184-PIN SDRAM DDR-400 (3200)
If that's what worked before, buying PC3200 is all you need to do. Your first post says ECC though, did you get ECC the first time around?

I couldnt say to be honest. What does ECC stand for? But yeah, thats what worked before, but they've stopped making the RAM i bought in the past, which is why im struggling to choose.

Thanks for all the help people!

Error Correcting Code. Usually it's reserved for servers but I remember some old S940 A64s used ECC. I think it was only the FX51/53 models though.

EEC just makes some checksums from binary into a few bits of memory and when the data is asked for it just checks it to make sure it not corrupted.
