What?!

Two packages, on the same train.. and newegg says;

"You're packages will still come today because they were scanned today".. duh, obviously not.. the vehicle bringing me my brand new LCD and video card has crashed!

All else aside, I paid for 3day select, they sent them Ground.. meaning no refund on shipping for me.

On top of that, my brand new LCD and video card have been in a train derailment.. meaning I most likely get to setup an RMA for both if/when they get here and wait even longer!

Don't get me wrong, I have sympathy for this train derailment.. but I ordered this stuff last Thursday with Rush Processing and 3 day UPS Guaranteed shipping.. and they can't offer me a refund on my shipping because someone chose to use UPS Ground (not me!) instead of the UPS 3Day Select I ordered.

UPDATED: Now they say, after calling back;

'I'll file a claim for a full refund tomorrow or we can file for a replacement, since we can't do it until the 22nd has passed'
'It takes 3-5 business days to process the claim with UPS, then 3-5 business days to process the request in-house and 3-5 business days to set a return shipment, you should expect to receive your items within 15 business days'.

Ugh..

I think that they sent you the wrong (more expensive) part and they didn't realize it until they cross checked the invoice with the invetore, so a STD happened (Sudden Train Derailment)

Haha, naw.. Although, I can't find any info at all on this train derailment online, might have to watch the news tonight.

I called back, apparently they all work out of the same calling center and the lady I talked to is having this girl call me back.. I'm going to wait and see if the packages come tomorrow, UPS says they usually do but idk..

UPS says the train derailed at 3:20am, so they could very well have the package on it's way to Minneapolis already.

Either way, I believe a shipping refund is in order.. I paid for 3 day select, and they (newegg) didn't honor that.. they used ground instead but guaranteed it to be to me in 3 days.

Quick question, though... you think an LCD and video card could survive a train wreck? I know newegg uses like 10lbs of packing peanuts in every box...

that depends on how bad of wreck and if somthing smashed in to your LCD Box. but yes its very possible.

Agreed you should get a shipping refund. and im sure UPS and newegg will make it right

They (UPS) said the train-wreck appeared to be in Minneapolis, I haven't heard anything about a train wreck and I live 15 mins outside of there.. you should have seen MN when 35W collapsed, news spreads fast here.

Anyways, I'm trying to work with newegg.. but the girl hasn't called back, she was suppose to when she got done on her last call.

I had to call the girl back.. she never called me :\

I also searched google for about half an hour and can't find anything on a train derailment anywhere in the country in the last 3 days.. I even searched BNSF (railroad company) and there's nothing listed for the last three days except an update to their privacy policy ( I think it was? ).

I did, however, find alot of complaints ranging back to 2002 about people getting this exact message when there isn't a train derailment.. but rather when there's a delay with the train getting to point B (end of the line).

Ack, I hope my products weren't on the train that derailed, if there was a derailed train.

wow , i can believe a de railment happend, its kinda weird how somthings are shipped like my IDE to SATA converter was first shipped from newegg CA then the Illinois then back to CA. but best hopes to u dude in gettin ur LCD/videocard

sorry to hear about your STDs. :D

For the record, kof, Sudden Train Derailmant is a serious condition :(

Thanks... UPS says that if/when something like this happens (are they saying this happens often?) that they generally deliver the packages the next day provided it wasn't catastrophic.

Looks like it's at the Minneapolis hub now.. it should be here tomorrow.

Hoping they don't get a flat tire, or run the truck into a river :o

3 day UPS Guaranteed shipping.. and they can't offer me a refund on my shipping because someone chose to use UPS Ground (not me!) instead of the UPS 3Day Select I ordered.

UPS 3 Day select does not mean it won't be shipped ground. It's just a guarantee you will get the package(s) within three days of the ship date. For example- living in Connecticut, if I order something shipped from their New Jersey wharehouse, UPS is not going to throw it on an airplane to ship it to Hartford. They throw it on a truck and I still have it next business day. If, however, I order something shipped from California, in order to fufill that 3-day promise, they put it on an airplane instead of trucking it cross-country. The package was shipped from TN, and obviously you live close enough that it can be shipped ground within 3 days. Besides, it's not like you paid for 3-day select over ground...newegg doesn't offer UPS ground....,.

Anyway, I had some unusual things with my recent order, too. I ordered the item on 8/20, and UPS origianally showed the billing info as being recieved on 8/21, and was scanned into the New Jersey hub (estimated delivery of 8/22). I check again this morning, and it says 8/22 7:20 PM (this was at about 2 in the afternoon) origin scan. So...someone went to the future and scanned my package? It also said that the estimated delivery date had been rescheduled to 8/23, although the status does not say delayed or indicate any other issue with shipping.

I think UPS is just having a bad week.

I'm aware of this, but they have an obligation to get the package to me within 3 business days. I ordered this 6 (soon to be 7) days ago, however, it's been 4 business days (soon to be 5) and it's not here. They did say they will refund the shipping cost if I call back on 8/23, but that they can't process it until then.. not a problem.

They chose to ship it via Ground, not me.. it's their mess to clean up and $20 back in my pocket.

If they had chose to use 3 Day select, it would have been on a truck ( in this case ), rather than a train.. and this delay wouldn't have been an issue for me.. according to the 'Senior Customer Service Manager' at UPS's toll free line.

It's not only an off week for newegg, it's an extremely off week for UPS.. I ordered a bundle of cables from them on Sunday, and only 1 package shows it's in Minneapolis.. another shows it's in transit and the third shows that 'billing information received, est. delivery date: 8/23/2007'.

In any event, I was only posting before to show that it's nearly here.. should have them tomorrow :D

In this case, 3-day select is ground. A train goes on the ground. A truck goes on the ground. Thus both are UPS ground services. In fact, more often than not (in my experience anyway), UPS ground packages are usually trucked. They may have put it on a train to get it to your quicker, because they had to get it to you in 3 days.

3-Day select is not a specific UPS service. It is just, as I said, a guarantee from UPS that you will recieve your package within 3 days. This guarantee was not met, so as with all guarantees, UPS will refund your money.

Ack, you can nitpick all you want, but the fact remains that they didn't hold up their end of the deal, 3 days guaranteed.. either UPS or newegg will be receiving a refund request for shipping.

Not only on these two packages, but on a third which apparently has sat in their warehouse waiting to be shipped since I ordered it on Sunday.. the other two packages I ordered that same day will be here tomorrow, as well as the monitor and video card.. but for some reason they couldn't manage to ship out my zip ties :\ .... I sense a trip to Walmart might be in my near future... 500 zip ties for $8.99 ;)
