whats a good value for a flat panel?

im looking to get into a flat panel but i have been noticing that the prices are alot more than standard CRT's . has anyone seen any really good pricing on these or sites with good deals, also when they say lets say 17'' viewable how is that measured, opposite corners???

LCD 17" is REALLY a 17" screen. Unlike CRT, which measures plastic around screen. so actual screen is realy smaller than 17"

Prices for $17 LCD's are anywhere from $200 to $400 i imagine.

those of course aren't the best quality. Generally a decent LCD 17" will cost $280 and up, unless its on sale. theres alot of things to look for in an LCD to measure quality...

I recently got this 19" lcd

this one cost $395 and I LOVE THIS MONITOR. 16ms responce time, color looks great and no ghosting. I had NO dead pixels.

You can proberly get a 17" one for about $100 less.

i think im gonna get a sony xbrite lcd screen, there expenisve but they look so awesome, the pictures blow ANYTHING i mean anything outta the water
