What's allowed in a signature?

What is typically allowed in a signature for sites like this? I just received an infraction on another site for having links to youtube crysis gameplay videos in my signature. What's up with that? It's not like it's spam or anything. Just youtube videos. As mods or admins, where do you draw the line?

we read their posts and make a judgment from what we see, yes
We allow legitimate users to place up to two personal sites in their signature (with some limitations). There is a distinction between people that sign up and contribute, and those that register to spam their sigs. When you do this long enough you can easily tell the difference.
I'll go ahead and allow it. He doesn't appear to be one of those hit and run type spammers, posting nonsense for the sole purpose of spamming their sig.
due to a DMCA exemption, it's legal to jailbreak a mobile device, so we allow that to be discussed here.
We typically allow members to place up to two personal sites in their signature - with exception to forums. We're not going to allow anyone to use this forum as a platform to recruit and promote their own community.

It's pretty well explained in our rules and there's a few quotes above to make it clearer.
Did the site you are talking about have a clear set of rules? and did the Mod's say why you were issued with an infraction? for seemingly 'innocent' links.

I had linked two crysis videos, generally funny ones, for entertainment. Nothing offensive. The rules stated that links were not allowed to any other sites, then they contradicted themselves saying that links are okay, just not spam/offensive/ads/other forums, which left me really confused. I fire a message back at the mod who infracted me, and got nothing back. They were online when I sent the message, and afterwards for a good hour or so, then they went offline.

Yeah, seems a contradiction with no consistency in applying their rules. At least 'Computerforum' treats everyone fairly.

Your aloud no more than 10 lines , 2 different colours and font size 2 is the maximum font size allowed in sig,as for links....We tend to let people put links in their signature to sites so long as they are not Malicious, illegal or to Competing sites. Eg. (Another computer forum.)

Seems like the mods on that site are either too harsh on their members or they all have their own opinion on what should/should not be allowed rather than all of the mods having set guidelines to follow.

Even if you did break a rule, they should not have really issued an infraction for the first time but just removed the links and told you.

Thanks, I thought it might be like that. I think I will stop frequenting that particular place from now on.

serves you right for being on other forums ;) traitor hehehe

Well I don't trade much here, I do that on an Aussie forum, but that's a different thing entirely :D

But the forum in question, their admin/mod team leaves me scratching my head.
