Whats best?

I'm building my first computer and have about £120 to spend on a GFX card. Whats best a confused: 256mb card with DDR2 or 512mb card with DDR3. Also is it better to go with a brand like Gigabite or is MSI or XFX (as these are condierably cheaper) just as good? If any one has any other handy hints it would be much appreciated.

I'd go with that, as for brand names it doesnt really matter, most people its a personal preference, but all those cards should be around the same thing, they are just boxed with different goodies.
 
Cards

It depends on the cards GPU. I'd probably say the GDDR3 with 256mb. What are the cards? Be specific like: 7600GT 256mb etc....

I'm currently looking at an
MSI 7600GS 512MB DDR2 with dual DVI (must have a dual DVI) £100
or
XFX 7600GT 256MB DDR3 w/2xdvi at £105

what do you suggest

The 7600GT is the better choice. The 7600GS isn't strong enough to take advantage of the 512MB's of ram anyways.
