What's better Mcafee or Norton?

I don't want to know the best of all internet security software I just won't to know which one of the posted above is better :)

both used together. i know this isnt the answer ur looking for, but the best way to go is run both. very thorough this way. sorry :)

I tried this once; I tried to install Mcafee after I had already installed Norton and Mcafee
Said that I had to uninstall Norton before I could install Mcafee

Well...

I don't really like either of them, but if i had to choose i would probably end up going with McAfee. ;)
I'm perfectly happy with my Kaspersky however! :D

I like norton2005 I had 2003 before and hated it but between the two I think norton has a bigger virus data base and norton scans everything email, downloaded files from p2p programs instant messengers I dont know if Mcaffee does or not and I have not used Mcaffee 2005 so I dont have anyway to compare! All I can say is norton2005 works for me and I have tried alot of other antiviruses!

ya, i don't like either one. if i had to choose one norton wood b it. they're both annoying as hell. I got pc-cillin with my mobo and i like it. sum1 correct me if i'm wrong but, i thought you couldn't have 2 virus programs running simultaneously b/c they would conflict with each other.

yes, they could..

unless u have one as the main one, and one for backup purposes. one for constant protection while the other to scan when you feel the need to. 1 program can't detect all infections, so its better to have 2, although u can overdue it with too many also.

theres also known issues where antiviruses fight eachother..:)
"in order to install me, you have to delete the other one"... says the one your installing..

im not sure if there is a way.. but

if you manage to install two conflicting anti-virus programs somehow.. it can result in General Protection Faults, crashes, and even the Blue Screen of Death..your system can become totally unusable..

but dont hold me to it.. wait and see if you hear a reply from buzz or byte

Mcaffee is definately better by far, norton comes with loads of crummy settings that just slow down your system, mcaffee is also more user-friendly

I wouldn't have either anywhere near my machine, but running both is a VERY bad idea. They'll conflict with each other and leave you LESS protected than if you were only running one.
