What's Graphics Card is Compatible with my Motherboard

look into AMD 7870 6870 and nVidia 560TI. All 3 are around the top of your price range but solid performers. What are you looking to play and what settings are you looking to play them at?

This is actually for a friend of mine (girl) who mostly plays Sims

But, i wanted to get something that can run Sims on High Settings but also handle other games that require more processing with higher graphics,etc... If it were to ever come.

First and foremost, what Power Supply does she have? If it was a prebuilt system bought from a store (aka not built by somebody that isn't a company) then it's probably not good enough. Even if it is built it still might not be up to scratch.

Well the sims is not all that demanding so I will use that as a afterthought. What other games do you think that she will pick up?

EDIT: nevermind the 295 will be more than fine for the sims. What does she need an upgrade for?

The 295 graphics card died on her, not sure why. So assuming it's time to buy a new one. But, her words were a graphics card that runs sims without a problem but can also run other games that demand more, without a problem  haha

Sorry for the confusion people!

Well I looked over a few benchmarks and it looks like the 295 is about the same performance as a GTX 560 ti. (560 ti is a little less performance) So the question is do you have a need for that much performance? We can get her a card that will play the sims maxed and other games with good settings for less than $300. On the other hand we can get get something for $300 and have a bit more performance for future games that she might want to play.

I'm going to go ahead and tell her to try out the GTX 560 Ti. She has a brother that uses her comp once in a while to game, and if the 560 is similar to the 295 that she previously had then maybe that will fit her. I don't think $ is much of an issue for her but didn't want to offer anything really above 300$ to her.

Look up the benchmarks for the 6870 560TI and 7850/7870 first. You might find card that fits her system better for the money.
