i dont really know much about it, but my best guess would be that its not free, and you cant really beat windows, although i do really like the mac system
It's free. That's the point (besides some select distros and power packs and such). There are emulators which allow you to game on linux with windows games. Whether or not you like it is personal preference, many like Windows jsut because of experience.
there are free versions of linux... linux ubuntu, fedora core, slax... are all free
i haven't tried fedora core... but i tried slax and ubuntu... slax is really just a nice pocket operating system in case windows crashes or something u can use it to back ur stuff up with (you run it on a small CD and it is just a handy tool...) ubuntu is good for beginers... but i couldn't stand it, but that is IMO.
I recently obtained LINUX Mandriva (the 2006 edition) with a user guide.
Linux is basically a operating system but comes with everything you could ever need on your pc (excluding antivirus/antispyware) it includes 5 web browsers, including FireFox, a office software that can write and read microsoft office files, a CD/DVD burning software, a media player, email, image editing, instant messenger (thats works with AOL and MSN accounts), and video calling (like Skype). It is basically lots of comanies putting together all of there software so it all works together on the operating system.
