Whats slowing my computer

Would you say its my graphics card that is holding back my performance in games. I mean frame rate. Specs are found bellow. Also I fin on this game I play on lowest settings I get 50 - 60fps then on highest exactely the same. And on my old system I used to get like 1 fps on highest settings and 15 on lowest so there was a big difference. If it is my card I wont get one any time soo, probs wait till like the 6800GT or whatever its called is bout £70 if its much better.

Ohh and the reason im asking is I know people with less Ghz than me that run games faster.

and one quick thing, I also just checked two sites and the 6800gt was more expensive that 7800gt isnt the 7800gt alot better, but anyway please dont dwell on that point.

Dude, the x700 pro is good. I assume u have pci-e but that wont make much of a difference if it was agp. You could buy the ATI x850 pro for $300, twice as fast, but u need at least a 350 watt power supply.

its your monitor that is holding the frame rate back. You might be able to set a higher frame rate (Hz) w/o buying a new monitor. Crt are faster 120 fps but less quality. You can get a lcd w/ 80fps, but its more expensive. Just add a crt monitor and use both on ur pc. Your card should support it. What monitor do u have now?

ps: Did u oc ur processor? What did it start at?

No games have taken advantage for the bandwith of a PCI-e so thats not the issue at all.

Monitors refresh rates are not measured in fps, but in Hz, which are somewhat similar to each other but very different. The monitor will not cause a low fps in a game, that would be the graphics card that is hindering the fps rate. Even if someone with a slower CPU has a better video card, he may be able to run a game faster.

well I have a crt monitor which has lasted me well it afew years old now, and no my processor retails at 3.8 ghz so if I were to oc it I would get over 4ghz out of it I gues :D but I dunno how lol. And how do I increase the frps my moniter can display (or hertz). Ohh and I do have pci-e nothing but the best for me lol.

ahh well I found out how to hchange in the ati control pannel. And I changed refresh rate to 100htz (maximum) mouse seems smoother and im off to test on the game.

nope it not moniter slowing me I still have 60fps. Hmm damn ati, I blame it on them. I mean on 1 map for my game I got 50fps on an old 64mb geforce card (420 think it was). I think there only one thing for it when my fps on the latest games drop bellow 20 I need a new graphics card.
Edit:
I been reading alot about sli, how would I go about getting 2 of my cards in sli? do I need a new mobo? or just some crazy adaption, Ohh ati dont do sli do they? maybe like next year I will get a 6800GT, and following year sli that cost me bout £100 probs looking at how prices are dropping these days.
