whats the average?

depends on the chipset, cpu, and ram timings. Download SiSoft Sandra and compare the results to similar systems.

I'm running the memory bandwidth test on my RAM (which is currently running at DDR286, hehe).

EDIT: Ok, I ran the memory bandwidth test on my DDR 286 memory and i received a speed of 3,666MB/s.

forgive me for being a bit thick, but when you say DDR286 does that mean your running it slower than a DDR400 ??

I have DDR400, but with my crappy motherboard its running at DDR286.

Good thinking there.

The last time i tested, i was at 7.5GBp/s or so.
I doubt it, when I had my Pentium D build, I had DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-11 or so, and I only got around 6GB/s.
