What's the best card I can get for $100

As the title states. I'd prefer a nvidia card, but i guess I can settle for a amd if need be. I'll be gaming, and obviously I wont be looking for anything to run on high. I just want to be able to play any modern game, even if it's on low. Will go a couple dollars above if I have to, and I have no problem looking for something used.

Well, first of all whats the rest of your setup like? No sense upgrading a card with a pentium 4 or something lol. Also, what power supply do you have? Need to know this upgrade won't make your current one burst into flames (and yes that CAN happen!)

As for a ~$100 card...I'd wait and keep a watch out for a used GTX460 to pop up in the classifieds on overclock.net forum. You can pick one up for around $100 for a 768mb and $120 for a 1gb. The 768 is plenty powerful though, the only difference is the memory since and bandwidth which won't make any difference if you are gaming on 1080p or less (which is 98% of gamers). It crushes gtx550 performance. The 6850 is a great card too, very powerful and only uses a single 6 pin connector. If you can find one for sub $120, which can be found used, that'd be the best buy. If you are worried about warranty on a used card, stick to brands like Asus and Gigabyte as they use the serial number only....or find a person thats the original owner and says they will help with RMA if ever needed.

For games, a graphics card would increase performance, even if he only has a P4. In an P4 build, I went from a x1950 pro to a 4670, and saw a world of difference, but yeah, it would be helpful for the rest of the specs, especially make and model of power supply, not just the wattage.
