Whats the best CPU on the market?

Whats is the best CPU on the markety today? i plan on putting it in my new pc... i know its an intell i just need the exact name.
 
The QX6700 is the best out right now, but it doesnt work in all motherboards.

What were you planning on using with it?
 
The best CPU on the market is the not as cheap but cheaper than some Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, but some say that if you dont have a budget

Intel Quad Core is the best. ^^^ QX6700

So what would u recomend? i have the money so thats not an option. Should i go with the Intel Quad Core Extreme or the Intell Core 2 Duo Extreme?
 
It is mainly because of clock speed. The highest quad core is the QX6700, while the dual core models go up to the X6800.

What will you be doing with the computer? And what is your motherboard?
 
Either one will be more than enough. Are you going to be overclocking at all? The QX6700 (2.66Ghz stock) should be able to be overclocked quite easily to 2.93Ghz (The speed of the X6800), and therefore neutralizing any lower performance from the lower clock speeds.
 
Well, i dont know. im thinking of just getting the X6800 now. if its faster..thats what i want so. plus i can over clock that.

I'd go with the X6800 for now. I have it and I love it. The quad core is more for bragging rights as of now. Wait till more programs and games utilize it, then drop the cash on one. Intel is planning on releasing a whole line of them so it'll be worth the wait to get want you really want.
 
^^ Thanks dude, thats what ill do. Anyway i have another question too. When overclocking a pc ( the cpu mainly ) will it require to get a better fan?
 
thats definetly the Core 2 Duo or Quad. AMD is really screwed if Intel can manage to lower C2D prices, thought. if ur on a tighter budget, i would go with a Pentium D 945-960. For AMD i Would go for the X2 or the FX. i recommend INTEL!!!!!

No no no. Never choose a Pentium D over an AMD X2. Even the low end 3800+ X2 is better then any PD. The X2 would def be a better choice, and the FX really isnt worth the price, its just an X2 overclocked.......id say get an X2 4000+ and OC it and it should perform about the same, pry not much worse then the FX-62.
