Cheers any help apprecited

get the 4800+ X2 :) the FX's only have an unlocked multiplier, wich makes them awesome for overclocking.. but you pay a big price for that. I had to make the same decission.. I chose the x2.. and really havnt regretted it so far :)

the fx-55 is much older. and its not dual core. Imo, even at the same price the 4800+ would be a better choice :) I had no problems getting the pc running like it is now. ( Only the BIOS of this motherboard is really confusing me :x )

the fx series didn't change to dual core until the fx-60. the fx-55 is indeed a 2.6, the fx-57 is a 2.8. if you want dual core, archangel is right by suggesting the x2's, unless you really want unlocked multipliers.

and fx processors are hardly new. i owned them all from the fx-53 to the fx-60.
