Whats the difference between xp home and pro editions?

Well, Pro has a couple more features, I think some security stuff, but I don't think it's worth the cost difference for most people.

besides other things, the main difference is server based networking. Home can participate in a network on a limited basis, and can do workgroups. Pro is designed to fully join/authenticate to Windows server based networks, NT/2000/2003.

Yep, this is the main difference.

XP Pro is designed mainly for businesses, because it has advanced networking capabilities, although it has other apps that home doesnt have (ex, remote control, backup, and more) i do agree that its not worth the price difference, but if you find that they cost the same somehow, get pro.

My friend told me that XP pro had ads at the end when you want to shut it down. I'm not sure if it's true but that could get pretty annoying.

NO Xp Pro dont have ads at the Shut down that a load of Shit ....

the difference is that Windows XP Home wont login to domains correctly and other stuff but Windows Xp Pro Will login to Domains correctly ...thats the difference well there maybe more lol

As the name might suggest, Windows XP Pro is designed for those office suites while Windows XP Home is designed for the student or stand alone pc. WinXP Home Edition takes up generally less space and is definately a cheaper alternative.

well, the features in pro dont really outweigh the features in home, its basically the same OS but if your looking to network then i suggest you go with professional as its tools are a great help.
