What's the problem?

I went from a 3mbps line to a 6mbps line...and my download/upload speeds are the same/slower. What gives?

Was using SBC Global, switched to Comcast Cable. My GF's Comcast Cable 4mbps line is faster than my 6mbps line.

Is there anything I can do on my end to solve this problem? After switching ISP's are there any steps I can take with my PC to get it to "match" my line speed? I know I can't expect 6Mbps, but I mean at least 3 would be nice.

I'm getting 2mbps or less, and an upload rate below 200kbps. Very terrible IMHO.

If you cut the speed, or number of uploads your doing.. your overall download should increase. Try that. What program are you using?

I'm not doing anything with my connection, jsut an internet speed test. I tested it with Firefox and Opera from dslreports.com and got pretty much the same results. between 2 and 2.2 mbps down and between 200 and 320kbps up. This is slower than my old DSL which was HALF the advertised speed, and certainly it was cheaper.

Well cable speed is related to how many people in the area are currently using it... So wait a little while and see if the speed doesnt increase. This is CABLE right, not DSL? How old is the Cable modem? Does it show a date of production on it?

Well there are only a few people in my area so far, it's a VERY new neighborhood (house was finished last week lol) so I don't think we are sharing it with many people.

The cable modem is new my dad says, although I don't know the exact date. He's got it locked in the server closet to prevent me from messing with it (hes smart lol.)

I think I fixed my problem with TCPOptimizer. I set a MUCH larger RWIN and it reports 5.1mbps. I'll run a few periodically throughout the night and if they stay high I'll be satisfied.

Your line speed:

5230.8 Kbps

641 K bytes/sec
