What's up with me and Burning?

I have tried the past 2 days to burn files to DVD. Why is it so hard? The files on my hard drive are avi files. For some reason, ashampoo doesn't want to recognize them and after I burn on nero and put the DVD+RW back in, there is nothing on it. What should I do? What program to use?

Are you trying to burn them as data, dvd movies, vcd, or other?

Well I want to watch them on my DVD players both on my TV and in the car, so as DVD.

try a program called nero 7 premium....it'll encode and burn avi's to dvd...

I tried Nero 7 and after I burned the AVI's as DVD's onto the DVD+RW it didn't even seem like it burned the files. When I put it in the DVD player it didn't work and then when I put it back in the computer, it said the DVD was blank.

There are many programs and many different ways that you can approach this. For now, I did a quick google search and found a simple guide with a free trial software that you can try.

Ah... so I ahve to convert the file first? After I convert it, I still need to burn it though, so which program download should I try?

yeah you need to "author" the files first so that they are in a DVD playable format. If you had Nero 7 and still have it then look for a program called vision express thats with it. This program allows you to do the necessary conversion. My advice would be if you have enough HDD space to convert it to somewhere on your HDD rather than straight to DVD, just cuts out possible issues.

Then once converted burn it off to DVD
