I own a relatively new computer:

3.00 Ghz
ATI Radeon 9800XT
200GB Hardrive

the harddrive is partitioned into two parts 100gb each. There is 71GB free on the
part with the operating system installed and about 15gb on the other part.

My problem is that it experiences lots of lag. for example, i close the My Documents window and the hour glass appears, i go to my recent documents and the menu takes like 30 seconds to appear. Ive done repeated virus checks and ive only got one application on startup. What can i do to stop the problem?

Hmm..., how long have you had the computer? It almost seems like the hard drive might be dying... Otherwise, have you done a adware/spyware/malware check with the anti-virus?

With that said, run a HiJackThis log and paste it here for our resident guru, Buzz to look at as well... :D

Are these only related to Documents? I've seen some pretty serious lags when a computer can't find a document. Windows XP is pretty bad about searching for shortcuts and all before it's even asked to.

I'd run a few programs like CCleaner and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner to clean up the temps and all. That'll be a good place to start.

To me it doesnt look like there's anything suspicious but i'm no expert.
