what's wrong with my monitor?

Does anyone know what could be the cause of sudden loss of brightness on my LG Flatron F700B monitor? Whenever I turn it on, it randomly fluctuates between bright and dark, a few times in a minute or once a week. It's really annoying and I hope it's not an expensive problem to fix. Any ideas?? :confused:

My girlfriends old CRT behaves like that every now and then, I've tried it on two different computers to no avail so it's dying.

But try bending the monitor cable gently to find out if it affects the brightness or colors, might just be a bad cable or connector. Try it on another computer or videocard as well if possible.
 
If you have tried it on another card/computer with no success, I'd suggest you go shop for a new monitor.
 
If it's an old monitor, then probably some resistances and/or capacitors are dying inside. Either take it to some maintenance shop or go get a new monitor as tweaker said.
