i mean literally selling your whole computer or giving it away and build another one from scratch. i think i will do that it is less hassle that fooling around with a working computer. something like upgrading a psu and having to pull all the wires and de ja vu all over.

i think i will upgrade once the intel's reaches a 4ghz :) stock speed.

i know some upgrade all the time. very hardcore

wow it seems like upgrading and building ur own is very common in here.. seems like everyone is doing this.. i would want to build my own computer one day.. but as for now.. i know nothing.. the only thing i know how to switch out is the memory.. haha.. good luck tho.

possible my next build would be this christmas or something hopefully they have 4ghz stocked cpu at that time.

Yeah, I'm going to be building mt AMD 64 for christmas... It's the same as last time... The Christmas before I built my first PC, and doing the same this year (except not my first :P).

So for me, I haven't upgraded all year, apart from buying a gig of ram about 4 days ago... Crucial Value Select for 2 x 512 MB Dual Channel Kit @ £45! :D

my next upgrade will be a new mobo and cpu and case, so practically a new pc. Thios will be happening sometime after this christmas. Christmas is a good money grabbing oppurtuniy ya see. lol

mine will be a new harddrive, this cant last me much longer then a few days lol, just the cookies from the internet are eating up my last few MB's.

then i need a new floppy, mine doesn't work, and a new PSU(I bought mine when i new nothing about PSU's they need to publish PSU101 at frys electronics. then a need a motherboard and CPU again, mine sucks. and then i'll get another stick of 512MBddr400 ram, then i'll get a case.

and then since i'll be upgradeing slowly, i'll prabally need a new harddrive again...and i'll prabally need a new PSU/mobo/cpu haha.

I'll upgrade my computer when I'm ready to drop $430 on a second 6800gt and another gig of ram.

That might be awhile.

Also, is it sad if I could by a whole computer for half the price of adding 2 parts to my computer?

i'm waiting for money so i can buy a better mobo (now got useless Via KT400), and buying 1 gig of ddr 400 so that fsb and memory be 1:1

The most drastic improvement for your system performance would be to change videocard to something faster. Not that I know if your a gamer, but somehow I think so. :)

have you tried running your ram in 1:1, and upping the vdimm. You may be able to get that ddr333 to run at 195fsb

1:1 the xp is 400fsb the pc2700 can do a 533fsb so you're not losing anything?

i know this is like that for INTEL but not sure if it is the same though there is no xp with 800fsb.

wtf?????
Not a single part of that was correct
xp runs on 198fsb
ddr is th double data rate ie double fsb, so stock 166
there are no intels with 800fsb

How is that possible. I'm now running a 133MHz ddr memory cuz my computer resets on 166MHz, i don't know why, but i've never heard that ddr333 can run 533 MHz
its not, kof is mistaken

Why does your ram reset when ram is set at 166, thats it's stock. I would have hoped you could run ram in sysn @ 198. Have you tryed upping the vdimm, or lossening timings. Would be good to run at 1:1

Oh and a quick polite note as a mod, could you make use of the edit button, post can become a bit cluttered if peeps keep using seperate posts for every afterthought :)

i do what i call a rolling update. no major rebuilds, just replacing parts when i think they need it.... or when my upgrade itch needs scratching lol.

im currently looking at moving to a skt 939 system, but im currently undecided.

well i would love to increase the vdimm but there is no option in the BIOS, are there programs where i can change the vdimm from windows?

Do you play many games? cause if u do i would go amd64. I had the same cpu that u have, and i can play my games at higher resolutions and quality then on the p4 (halo, cs:s, hl2, ect). I thought the p4 was excellent, but my sempron 2800+ seemed to top that in games, and i also got a higher 3dmark score with the sempron over the intel. But not as good at multi-tasking :(
