When I decrypt a movie...

My CPU Utilization is over 77%!!! I thought my computer is supposed to be able to decrypt, play music, chat, and play BF2 with no problems?

Hmmm what could be wrong? Thank you.

BTW< some times on my AI BOOSTER (a software from the motherboard) shows that the CPU jumps from aorund 1.1 GHZ to 3.0 GHZ....

do you know why it does that? But it seems to run fine though. THanks guys!

the AI booster is some sort of automatic overclocking program as far as i know.. when the CPU is used more, its overclocked (if the temps allow is, and it runs stable), and when the CPU is idle... its downclocked, so it doesnt consume that much power.

as for the CPU utilisation.. have you tried decrypting and playing BF2 at the same time? i mean, if you give the decrypting program the processor "space", i dont see why it wouldnt use it :) ( or maybe you have to set the affinity of the programs to 1 core)

Thanks Archangel,

I've tried to play music while decrypting and the sound of the music was HORRIBLE. It was static-like and skippy.

How do I check if it is just being processed thru 1 cpu? how can I change it. I doubt this is the problem but it's worth a shot. Any more inputs? Thanks once again.

when you have the process list of the sask manager in front of you, you can right click on a process, and set affinity to core 1 or 2 ( Im not sure about how to get it, and i cant check it atm... these old 1GHz AMD's here at 'work' arnt dual cores i think :P )

Also guys, I can't even play music without it sounding scratchy while burning a movie. What the heck is that all about? Maybe this processor is crap????!!!??

EDIT - I just tried setting the affinity of the decrypter to core 2 while setting the affinity of the music player to core 1, yet the problem still persists. Any clue? lol thanks
