When is the next new socket mobo coming out for both intel & amd?

AM2+ is the most recent, although I'm not sure when Intel's new socket is coming out. If I were to venture a guess, it wouldn't be for a while because Intel's next generation of quad-cores is going to use the LGA775 platform.

For intel boards it's not a matter of a socket change, its motherboard standards that are changing. PCI-E 2.0 is the newest thing for motherboards, it speeds up the interface between the video cards, and increases the voltages supplied through the pci-e slot to accommodate the newer video cards that are coming out.

AMD has the new AM2+ boards that are just coming out now. They have the new Hyper transport 3.0 and support the new pci-e 2.0 standards. Rumors of am3 boards are talking about the end of next year.

Yeah, the 45nm CPUs are LGA775, so I don't expect there to be a massive switch for a while yet. Should look more to PCI-E 2 and DDR4 RAM.
