When Streaming Online What Are All The Differen't KB/S For?

I have a programme that lets you stream on internet. The kb/s start at 4 and got up to 320. On the site I use you have to stream at 96 or 128. Does anyone on here know what all the differen't kb/s are for?
 
It depends on how "kb/s" is spelled. If it's KB/s, then that means it's in kilobytes. If it's Kb or kb, usually it's kilobits.
