Yeah they are all dropping and the Q6600 will probably be a good value, I've got so many thoughts running across my head for my new PC. I just got another job, so my income is gonna open up a bit, I am thinking of putting in Physx processors and all kinds of stuff. I am going with that E6850 which is supposed to be priced at $266, too. The 6400, *scoffs*, the E6600 will probably be $180-ish, the E6650 and E6750 will be out, also. The new Penryn processors are rolling out, those will be sky high until Q4.

yeah if it drops i might get one and throw my old on in the family build and that means i may have to postpone building.

Anybody have any idea where AMD is headed in terms of prices? I think I'll wait a bit on a new 939 CPU if the prices are going to drop.

Since I was gonna build my system for gaming, I should just stick with the C2D E6850 or E6750 right? I am also getting the 8800GTS.

The Intel E6600 and the Quad Core Q6600 Don't have much in performance that you will see in different. Both running on 2,4Ghz. you won't find any difference in performance. Just the Quad has 8MB cache as you don' need that if you are not planning on multitasking. For the E6600 its still a good processor.

Right now thats true, you wont see a difference in the current games when using an E6600 or Q6600. But in the long run, the Q6600 will pull ahead.

Quad core is good for people who want to run several programs at the same time. For example, you can run a game and do virus scan and the same time.

And there will be many games that will utilize 4 cores, like Crysis, Alan Wake. And those will come late this year
