When upgrading..

Alright my new setup just got here and i intend to salvage my old hard drive and optical drives as well as the case, everything else is new. I was told that i won't need to reformat with the new hardware as i originally thought, but i was wondering what steps i need to take before installing the new hardware? I'll need to wipe all my drivers correct? but what else? Any help is appreciated.

You can just pop in the HD, turn it on. Windows will detect everything and ask for the driver location. Just pop in the CD and point it there. If that wont work, mostlikely the CD has program(s) to install the drivers for you.

But for me, I'd do a clean install. Less problems and its clean. :D

As a general rule, it is recommended that you format and reinstall the OS if you are changing the motherboard.

There is a way to upgrade with the original OS intact, I have a link to another forum that details that, but like I said, it is probably better that you back everything up and reinstall.

Yeah but changing MoBo is kinda extreme compared to this. You can also add network cards an' all without having a problem, thats when windows is you true friend, as i understand it, with linux, if your as n00bish as i am than you probably will have a harder time...
