When will Intel come out with a new socket?

Yeah, I want to know this to figure out whether I should upgrade now or wait a bit. When I built my computer a few months I got a Pentium D for free, but it seems to be crapping on the frame rates. I don't game that much, so it's not too big of a deal. But I do want to upgrade soonish since pentium d is last gen.

Its going to be a while, if you can afford it, get a E8200 or E8400. Not sure if that board would need a bios flash though.

But i'm not sure when they are going to come out with a new socket, but it doesn't look like anytime soon.

My P35-DS3 worked out of the box too but on the site it said it needed a bios update to work with the 45nm's.Weird. I did the bios update anyway though.

Hmmm... where to buy those processors? I haven't seen the e8200 anywhere and the e8400 is way more expensive than it should be.

Still though, would it not be worth it to buy a cheap processor like the e2160 and OC it to 3GHz? Is it hard to do?

From what I have read, it's really easy to get it to 3GHz. But that was just with a quick google search lol.

Read the overview section of it there.

"Make the universe submit to your will". That would be nice, I think I'll buy it. Really though, how much time would it take to overclock it? I have no experience but I do know my computer pretty well.

Not much, It's just a matter of not pushing it too far.
