I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I'm running Windows XP, Episode 1.
Here is the problem: Internet Explorer is "hanging."
What I mean is that sometimes when I start explorer, it will take up half of my CPU resources. It won't give them back. I have to manually terminate the process through the task manager. Real Player and Yahoo Messenger are doing the same thing.
The system says that these programs are using 50% of my system resources and that "system idle processes" are at 50 percent.
This happens even if IE is the only program I have loaded...or if I have just Realplayer or Messenger loaded.
I talked to a tech guy who said that it sounds like something within IE is corrupt.
Any ideas?
