Where did my cd_rom driver go ?

I have a gateway 2000 laptop and just recently had a motherboard installed in it. When I tried to download a webcam into it, I put in the software cd and nothing ever came up so I clicked on My Computer and noticed my G:\ drive was not there anymore. It was there before I had the motherboard installed. Is there anyway or anywhere I can find the G drive? I even went into bios and it stated it was not installed. Is there a website I can go into and download it directly to my laptop?

The G drive is no longer G if seen since you remade the laptop all over again with a new board and more importantly brand new copy of Windows. First you have to find out why the installer didn't work. Without the software on the laptop there won't be that one additional drive seen.

laptop

I had the motherboard installed by a qualified tech. Should he be responsible for making sure everything is working properly? Or is this something I should try to do myself?.....somehow. Your suggestions.
One other thing: It shows in My Computer that I have a 3 1/2 floppy disc drive. My laptop does not have a 3 1/2 floppy disc drive. What's up with that?

Yes. I would call him and explain the issue. Also, you mentioned 'recently' in your first post. Yesterday recently, or two weeks ago recently?

I did call him and explain the issue and he said I need to check into the bios. He didn't offer to check it out for me. He said it sounded like it might be a bad driver? It was working fine before I brought it in.

When replacing the board Windows was reinstalled as well to see the drivers for that board go on. If the webcam isn't being properly detected it would likely point to an incomplete or bad install of the software and drivers being seen where something didn't go on correctly or on at all. It's definitely a software error being seen whether for the webcam and possibly a board driver didn't go on fully.

Well, I guess I need to take it back to the tech and have him take a look at it. I'm thinking he shouldn't "charge" me since it sounds like his error.

Thanks for the input !
