Basiacly what the title says. Where would I find the registry folder? Im using Windows XP home and really want to find that folder :P.

Thanks for any help

Jon

The registry is not contained in any folder, it is basically a progeram of its own, that lists all software resource keys and such, to access it click START - RUN - type "regedit" - hit ENTER. and then your in, be wanred now, it is very dangerous and its about 3 clikcs and a type and you could kill your PC if you dont know what your doing, its a dangerous place if your just messing about with it.

The XP registry files are located under
C:\windows\system32\config.

There are several files involved and
doing the wrong thing with any of
them will seriously mess up your
windows xp. Be really careful what
you do or you will have to redo your
windows xp.

Ohh right thanks you two, and wow I bets not mess around there, did it once before lol I must have been lucky, and I have backed up the registry so if I piss it uup could I get back to where I was easy enough?

Well if XP isn't bootable after your registry change, I can't see how you'd apply the backup. There could be non-microsoft bootable CDs which can apply registry backups, but I've never heard of one.

just backup your most important data on CD's etx... try not to do anything immediately erlated to system performance and features, mess about with individual programs by all means, thats relatively harmless, all you can do is f*** the program and have to reinstall it, if you go changing values ina ll the system setting reg keys, theres a strong chance it could die on you, and if it doens boot back up then no there is no way of applynig the backup as Verruckte just said.... i will keep a look oout for such program and tell you if i find one.

Well im all scared now so im going to leave it the hell alone lol. And there is a fucnction on sytem mechanic 6 that backs it up. And when I went into the registory folder I could see all the points where it was backed up, and I gues if I double clicked them it would take me back or something but I dont want to try.
