Where can I pick one up? Not a used old one on ebay. I know asus makes some barebones, but where can I buy one online from a reputable source? Or any barebone laptop for that matter?

okay...so i was in a bit of a "mood" when i posted that last night...and i figured that linking google probably wasn't the most helpful. :D

so...Click Here for Help with Online Vendors!

i'm looking for a barebone laptop also. from what i've found Gentech PC has some really good deals. some other place would include...

pcclub.com
discountnotebook.com
cyberpowerpc.com

and there are several others, but i can't find the page that had the online vendors & rankings.

cyberpower doesn't have barebones laptops, but they have some good deals on gaming notebooks. i've seen fairly mixed reviews of them though.

i would use google to search for barebones laptops or whitebooks, and then plug the websites in the reseller ratings and read the customer reviews.

also worth noting, the new santa rosa chips are offically out, and there should be new laptops hitting the stores soon. that means prices of the older models is probably going to come down a bit in the next few weeks/ month.

hope this helps, good luck.

yeah, ebay has crappy ones, but i once saw a pentium 4 1.5 GHz on it! and it jhust needed a CD drive, and a caddy + HDD
