I guess this question applies to both desktops and notebooks..but in my case its notebooks but i dont think it matters...so where should one buy them from? retail stores (best buy, circuit city, compusa, etc...), online stores (newegg, tigerdirect, etcs...) or from the company's website (hp.com, gateway.com, dell.com, toshiba.com, etc...)

given the fact that around this time there arent mayn sales going on in the retail stores and i dont want to wait till black friday

TigerDirect, Newegg, cyberpower, ibuypower.

TigerDirect has alot of good deals but most of them are mail-in rebates. I got a D-Link Wireless Router from them for $5 after mail-in rebate.

Are you kidding??? This time of year is great, back to school time of year is probably the second best time of year for buying a computer behind Black Friday! With that said, if Toshiba or some of the direct suppliers are offering a deal, go directly with them, you'll probably cut out some of the middle-man that way. Retailers in general tend to be a bit more expensive, but not always... Just consider the brand and quality of the computer over all other factors. :)
