Hello guys obviously you can tell by my screen name i am a noob! i dont know much about computers. can you guys suggest me a good place to learn exactly what the following is and does?
HD
MOBO
RAM

And anything else that i might find useful to learn from.

here mainly, i can tell you right here and now, that the "hd" stands for "hard drive" and that stores information, like the operating system(s), files in general.

"mobo" stands for "motherboard" it just kind of holds all the componants together, without a motherboard everything would be useless by itself.

and for "ram" that stands for "random access memory" basically it just stores some information(i've never figured out what exactly) but, everytime the computer loses power(shut down), it loses all that information.

i guess wikipedia would be another place to look
 
Not to sound sarcastic but i know what the names are, i just used the short names for them thanks though.
I found www.webopedia.com Its a great source of info. Here is what i got out of what the following mean:
RAM- RAM stores all the vital computer downloads like the operating system and the drivers.
HD-The hard drive stores all the pictures and movies and music which are not necessary for the computer to run.
MOBO- The motherboard pretty much powers everything. The memory, BIOS, and CPU are all on or connected to the MOBO.

The RAM does not store the operating system. When you install an OS like say Windows Vista for example, it's installed on the HDD. RAM is exactly what it says it is, random access memory. It's memory that can be used by any process currently running, whether it be a game, an internet browser, or any kind of program. It's "random" because one piece or multiple pieces of data can be stored and moved from it, whether or not it's relative to other pieces of data that is being moved to and form the it.

might want to put the motherboard is the heart of a computer, if this is a report or something for the computer illiterate people
