Where to put the second stick?

I am increasing my ram to hopefully speed up my desktop computer. The current 8 GB stick is in bank A1. When I add the additional 8 GB stick do I put it in bank A2, B1 or B2? Thank you. Frank

Here are the specs of my desktop: do you think this will make a difference in speed of opening files on my computer?

Specs on Desktop: AMD FX- 4300 quad core, 3.80 GHz, currently 8GB ram, running windows 10 with a Samsung SSD.

Would need to know what model of motherboard you have. That determines where dual channel is.

B1 really so you have dual chan.
A2 will work but perform to a lesser degree on most workloads.

Thanks Beers, so after I place it there does the computer recognize it or do I have to do something?

Computer will recognize it automatically providing the slot or the memory isn't damaged.
