I don't know alot about computers so thats why i came here.

when I turn on my cumputer I'll get the screen that says that the computer needs to check the disk for errors. and this takes forever. but when I don't get this screen i get a box that says something about how that windows couldn't load files and everything i do will not be saved... then i get to my deskop which is completely blank. and all my files are gone. this has been going on for about 4 days

how can I fix it?

hdd = harddrive. To do a reformat/reinstall of windows. You should boot with your windows XP CD and look for something like reformat harddrive (dont really remember, been a while since i reformatted)

uh-oh odds are the window xp cd is long gone (I'm very unorganized), any other way to fix it?

nope, basicly when your hdd goes, it goes. Back up your data, if you have the Key code for xp on the side of your case you can use a buddys win xp cd and use your cd key.

If you bought your comp with XP preinstalled, it should have come with CDs manufactured by the person who made you computer. If you have an HP, your probably hopeless. They make you burn your own CDs, and the problem is, they can't repir anything. I could have been able to save my compuuter, but no. The CD's repair function is corrupt.

ok i read the message from the start up thing and it said I had insuffecint copy right files and/or a currupt personal file.
